Vol. 115 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Potato Purchases by Great Britain.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the quantity and value of potatoes purchased in this country by Great Britain in 1948.

I presume that the Deputy refers to the purchase of potatoes of the 1948 crop. As deliveries for the season have not yet been completed, it is not possible to give exact figures, but it is estimated that a total of approximately 65,000 tons will be purchased by the British authorities and that the f.o.b. value of this quantity will be close on £770,000.
