Vol. 115 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Concrete Platform.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the cost of erecting the concrete platform at the entrance to Leinster House and what purpose it is intended to serve.

The concrete platform forms the core of an island feature for pedestrian traffic and is being carried out as part of the scheme for providing parking facilities in the courtyard. The cost of this part of the scheme may be taken as £700.

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply, is he aware that the slab of concrete outside Leinster House is a greater obstruction to parking than was the erection that was formerly there? Is he aware that it is the general opinion that this concrete platform is supposed to symbolise the straight and narrow path, the existence of which Deputies are aware of but do not always follow?
