Vol. 115 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Northern Ireland Parliamentary Representatives.

asked the Taoiseach if the Government have completed consideration of the request of Mr. E. McAteer, M.P., for permission to take his seat in Dáil Éireann; and, if so, what decision has been arrived at; and if he will state if the Government intend to recommend to the Oireachtas and the people the necessary constitutional and legal changes that may be necessary to enable the elected representatives of Irish people now residing in the six partitioned counties to take their seats in Dáil Éireann.

asked the Taoiseach if any decision has as yet been taken by the Government concerning the admission to the Oireachtas of the persons elected as Parliamentary representatives in respect of electoral areas in that portion of our territory occupied by British forces.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to answer Questions 1 and 2 together.

The examination of the matter to which the Deputies' questions refer has not yet been completed by the Government.
