Vol. 115 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Quality of Tea Supplies.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether his attention has been directed to the inferior quality of tea at present available, caused mainly by splinters and an abnormal quantity of dust in the tea; and, if so, whether he will request the London buyers to purchase good quality tea at a reasonable price if the Irish buyers are unable to do so.

I have made inquiries in the matter to which the Deputy refers and the information obtained does not indicate that the tea now being distributed here is generally of a quality inferior to that which is being marketed elsewhere. I see no reason to make any change in the tea-buying arrangements even if such a course were practicable.
