Written Answer. - Housing Programme.

Mr. Boland

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state for the period 1st April, 1948, to 31st March, 1949, in respect of each county (i) the number of houses sanctioned by his Department (a) for county councils. (b) for urban councils; and (ii) the number of grants sanctioned (a) for building societies, (b) for private persons, (c) for new houses, (d) for reconstruction.

The following table shows, in regard to local authorities, the number of houses in respect of the erection of which tenders were sanctioned, or direct labour schemes approved, during the financial year 1948/49:—
