Vol. 115 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rate Increases.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the total increase in the rates to be levied by all local authorities, and whether he will give a figure representing the increases recorded up to April 30th inclusive.

I am unable to furnish the information requested by the Deputy in the first part of his question as copies of estimates have not yet been received from some local authorities. The total increase over the amounts for 1948-49 recorded up to the 30th April, in the amount of rates leviable by 27 county councils, 48 urban district councils and one county borough council for the year 1949-50 is £1,268,575.
