Vol. 115 No. 5

Committee on Finance. - Courts of Justice (District Court) Bill, 1949—Money Resolution.

I move:—

That for the purpose of any Act of the present Session to amend certain provisions relating to the District Court, of the Courts of Justice Acts, 1924 to 1947, it is expendient to authorise the charge on and payment out of the Central Fund, or the growing produce thereof, of the expenses incurred in giving effect to the provisions of such Act in regard to the salaries and pensions of, and awards to justices of the District Court.

The expenditure under the Bill will consist of the salaries and pensions of the two additional justices provided for in Section 3. The salaries of the two justices will amount to approximately £2,500 per annum, and will be chargeable on the Central Fund. There will be a set-off against that—the sum saved on the temporary justices whose services would be necessary if. Section 3 of the Bill were not passed.

Question put, and agreed to.
Resolution reported and agreed to.
