Vol. 115 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Position of Pig Industry.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he has concluded his inquiries into the position of the pig industry and the prices proposed to be paid for bacon pigs by certain bacon curers, as announced in recent Press advertisements, and if he is now in a position to make a statement on the matter.

As a result of inquiries made, I am satisfied that the advertisement referred to in the Deputy's question was issued without the knowledge or consent of the Bacon Curers' Association. Following representations made by my Department to the latter body, the advertisement was withdrawn.
