Vol. 115 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cattle Prices.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the average increased price per cwt. enjoyed by producers of fat and store cattle as a result of the 1948 Trade Agreement with Great Britain.

For the great bulk of our fat cattle, the Ministry of Food prices under the 1948 Trade Agreement represent an increase of about 5/- to 9/- per live cwt. in the 1948-49 season and of 10/- to 17/- per cwt. in the 1949-50 season, over the prices that would have ruled had the agreement not been made.

Prices paid for our store cattle since the 1948 agreement came into force show increases averaging about 10/-per live cwt. over the corresponding period a year earlier.
