Vol. 115 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Distribution of Lard.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will inform the Dáil of the regulations governing the distribution of lard for those engaged commercially in the business of fish frying.

There is no control over the distribution of edible lard except that it may not be bought or sold for any industrial purpose save in the manufacture of food for human consumption. By special arrangement, inedible hog grease is processed by the Irish Oil and Cake Mills, Limited, Drogheda, for distribution to fish fryers established prior to the development of shortages in the supplies of cooking fats.
