Vol. 115 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Unemployment Benefit.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has received complaints that persons qualifying for unemployment benefit in South County Dublin who obtain employment later in the week are unable to attend at the employment exchange during normal office hours for payment of benefit; and, if so, whether he will arrange to have facilities provided for them.

I have received representations of the nature indicated by the Deputy, and in order to facilitate the persons mentioned and others who may be similarly circumstanced, I have arranged for the city employment exchanges to remain open on Friday evenings until 7 p.m. This arrangement will be brought into operation at an early date.
