The estimated starch equivalents of animal feeding stuffs in 1939 and 1948 were, respectively (a) 431,000 tons and 198,000 tons for imports, and (b) 2,053,000 tons and 2,238,000 tons for home production. The estimates at (b) include hay, but do not include grass, since a reliable basis for estimate for the latter is not available.
