Vol. 115 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Loughrea Post Office.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that, owing to the post office at Loughrea being destroyed by fire last June, the business has since then been carried on at two improvised centres 250 yards apart, causing great inconvenience to the staff and the public, and that there is no business privacy or proper sanitary accommodation; and, if so, if he will state (i) whether a suitable site has been secured; (ii) when work will commence on this site; and (iii) if no site has yet been secured what steps are being taken to secure one immediately.

I am aware that the present temporary post offices at Loughrea are unsatisfactory in many respects and plans are being prepared for an improved temporary office pending the provision of a new and enlarged permanent office. Negotiations for a suitable site are at present in progress.
