Vol. 115 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Postal Deliveries in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that postal deliveries in certain parts of rural County Dublin are made in the afternoon and not in the morning; and, if so, whether he will take steps to devise a scheme which will improve this service.

I am aware that in a small number of cases persons at distant points of postmen's routes in rural parts of County Dublin do not receive their correspondence until after midday. Improvement in these instances is not possible without splitting up existing full-time duties and creating undesirable part-time posts to effect a general improvement. If the Deputy will, however, indicate what particular district he has in mind I will have the case carefully examined to see whether improvement can be effected.
