Vol. 116 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Valentia Pier.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that some months have elapsed since an engineer from the marine branch, Office of Public Works, carried out a preliminary survey of the proposed construction of a breakwater and the extension and repair of the Valentia Pier; and, if so, whether he is now in a position to come to a definite decision in the matter.

The preliminary survey referred to was made some months ago, but I am advised that in order to undertake a fully detailed survey for the purpose of preparing a plan, specification and firm estimate of the cost of the work required it is necessary to await a very low spring tide. It has been arranged to make such a survey in the coming August when conditions are expected to be most suitable for the purpose.
