Vol. 117 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Consultative Council.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he will arrange to place in the Library, for the information of Deputies, copies of the minutes and reports of the Dublin Housing Consultative Council submitted to the Department of Local Government since the council was established.

The Dublin Housing Consultative Council was appointed to assist the housing authorities in the Dublin area by investigating and making recommendations on matters connected with the housing programme. Their recommendations are primarily for consideration by these housing authorities. The council conducts its proceedings in private, and its minutes and reports are confidential documents, except in so far as they may have been prepared with a view to publication. I have no reason to believe that the Consultative Council's work would be advanced by having copies of its minutes and reports made available as suggested and, consequently, I do not propose to intervene in the matter.
