Vol. 117 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio Copyright Fees.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the usual copyright fees paid by Radio Éireann for short stories of 20 minutes' duration and plays of 30 minutes' duration.

The copyright fee paid for a single broadcast of a short story of 20 minutes' duration varies from £4 to £15, depending on the merit of the story and the reputation of the author. An additional fee, varying from £4 to £10, is paid if the author broadcasts his own story. The fee paid for a single broadcast of a play of 30 minutes' duration varies from £4 to £16.

Where a short story or a play is repeated within a short period half of the original fee is usually paid for the second broadcast.
