Vol. 117 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Co. Kerry Electrification Schemes.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any steps have yet been taken by way of survey or otherwise for the installation of a rural electrification scheme in the Sneem, Caherdaniel, Waterville and Iveragh districts.

I informed the Deputy in reply to a question in December last that as the areas referred to were remote from the 10 K.V. system it would be some time before supply could be made available generally in these areas. The position has not altered since I answered that question.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the necessary arrangements are yet completed for the installation of a rural electrification scheme in the area comprising Milltown and surrounding districts.

I have been informed by the Electricity Supply Board that Milltown area, County Kerry, has been considered by the board on a number of occasions for development under the rural electrification scheme but that the ratio of estimated fixed charge revenue to estimated capital cost of development has not so far justified the selection of the area.
