County Council resolved to put a sewerage in Ardfinnan, County Tipperary; (b) the date upon which the Department approved the scheme; (c) the reason for the delay in beginning work on the scheme, and (d) when work is likely to begin.

(a) There is no information in the Department as to the date on which the Tipperary (S.R.) County Council resolved to initiate a sewerage scheme for Ardfinnan. The scheme was included in a list of post-emergency schemes scheduled by the sanitary authority towards the end of 1943.

(b) The scheme has not been approved as the final documents have not yet been received from the local authority.

(c) The submission of contract documents is awaited.

(d) No work can be undertaken until the contract documents have been submitted and approved, the necessary financial arrangements completed and a tender accepted.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the date upon which Tipperary (S.R.) County Council resolved to put in sewerage in Cappawhite; (b) the date on which the Department approved the scheme; (c) the reason for the delay in beginning work on the scheme; and (d) when work is likely to begin.

(a) The former Tipperary (S.R.) Board of Health directed preparation of a sewerage scheme for Cappawhite in April, 1942, and the scheme was listed as a post-emergency project towards the end of 1943.

(b) A preliminary report by the consulting engineer was submitted to the Department in June, 1948. Approval in principle to the scheme outlined was given by the Department in January last and plans were submitted last June.

(c) A report was obtained subsequently from the county medical officer suggesting a revision of the type of treatment works proposed. This matter, which may involve revision of the plans, is under consideration and will be decided as soon as possible. It will be necessary for the local authority to furnish a specification and bill of quantities for approval.

(d) No work can be undertaken until a tender based on full approved contract documents has been accepted by the local authority.
