asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state whether he has completed the examination referred to in his answer to a question, on the 14th June last, on the subject of assessing home assistance as means under the Old Age Pensions Acts; and, if so, with what result.

The examination referred to has been completed and I have been advised that, in computing means under the Old Age Pensions Acts, home assistance should be ignored. I have issued instructions accordingly, and home assistance will, in future, be disregarded in calculations of means for the purpose of the Old Age Pensions Acts.
