Vol. 118 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authorities' Hospital Employees.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the general dissatisfaction existing amongst hospital attendants and ambulance drivers employed by local authorities due to inadequate allowance in lieu of uniform, and if he will investigate this matter with a view to increasing this allowance.

Local authorities may at their discretion supply hospital attendants and ambulance drivers with uniform or they may grant a cash allowance of £5 a year in lieu of uniform. I am not aware of any general dissatisfaction on the ground that the allowance is inadequate, but if the Deputy will furnish me with particulars of any case in which dissatisfaction exists I will have it investigated.
