Vol. 118 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Rural Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and commerce if he will state when rural electrification schemes will be undertaken in the Douglas and Carrigaline districts, County Cork.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that preliminary steps are being taken to enable the board to consider whether the Douglas and Carrigaline areas can be selected for development under the rural electrification scheme. It is expected that the information required for the consideration of the Douglas area will be fully obtained within the next few weeks, but that the case of the Carrigaline area will not be ripe for consideration until next year.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when it is expected that the rural electrification scheme for the Roscarbery area will be completed.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that they will not be in a position until next year to consider the question of extending the rural electrification scheme to the Rosscarbery area, and it is not possible at this stage to forecast what the decision will be.
