Vol. 118 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Minane Bridge (County Cork) Reclamation Project.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he will state the number and qualifications of engineers and other personnel engaged on the Minane Bridge, County Cork, reclamation project and the amount of time spent on it during each of the years 1945 to 1948, and in each month in 1949.

The engineering personnel concerned include a master of engineering and six other graduates in engineering from two of our universities. To estimate the amount of time spent on the work would involve considerable research and expense which I feel would not be justified.

Might I ask the Minister if he is satisfied that there is no delay in the carrying out-of this scheme?

There is a necessary delay, as I explained on the Adjournment Debate a short time ago, to ensure that the scheme will not be a failure on its completion. That is all.

Might I ask the Minister if he would borrow an efficient energetic engineer from the drainage section of the Department of Agriculture to carry out this work?
