Vol. 118 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Medals for Irish Sailors.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the present issue of medals to members of the Defence Forces for service during the emergency, he will consider issuing a suitable medal or certificate to members of the merchant service who served in Irish ships during that period.

It has been decided to issue medals and certificates to persons who served in the mercantile marine during the emergency, and I hope to be in a position to make a public announcement shortly as to the conditions and procedure for making applications.
