Vol. 118 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Cork Dispensary Districts.

asked the Minister for Health whether the South Cork Board of Public Assistance sent a request to his Department to survey the dispensary districts in their area; and, if so, when the request was received, and whether the survey has yet been completed.

No request of the nature referred to was made by the South Cork Board of Public Assistance to my Department. I presume, however, that the Deputy is referring to the countrywide survey of dispensary districts which has taken place over the last few years. The survey was completed some time ago but it would be premature to convey the recommendations to public assistance authorities pending final decisions on certain detailed aspects of the proposals for the expansion of the health services. When concrete proposals have been evolved the recommendations made in the dispensary survey reports will be communicated to local authorities without any avoidable delay.

Does the Minister say there was no request made to his Department two years ago for this survey?

That is my information.
