Vol. 118 No. 16

Committee on Finance. - Business of Dail.

I wonder would it be possible at this stage to get agreement to finish the remaining business to-night? There are three items: No. 7, which is a motion for approval of the Control of Imports Order, 1949; No. 3, the Industrial and Commercial Property Bill from the Seanad, and No. 6, the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) Bill.

As regards the first two items, yes. In the case of the third item—the Defence Forces Bill—it has not to be passed until the 31st March.

The only reason why I am asking for the Bill at this stage is that I propose to introduce a permanent Bill in March. If I got the temporary Bill now, the permanent Bill could then be discussed in a leisurely manner.

I doubt if it would be possible to get the Defence Forces Bill now. If the Minister has his permanent Bill in March, there will be no trouble about the temporary Bill.

If there is objection to taking the temporary Bill to-night, there is no use in wasting time on it.

The Minister knows that it does not depend on me.

Agreed to take items Nos. 7 and 3 to-night.
