Vol. 118 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Postal Services.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that the present postal arrangements in Irishtown, Claremorris, County Mayo, whereby the incoming post arrives at noon and the outgoing post leaves at 3 p.m., allow very little time for the answering by return of urgent letters; and whether he will take steps to have the service rearranged in a more suitable manner.

It would not be practicable to provide a longer interval between the arrival and despatch of mails at Irishtown, Claremorris, without considerable additional expense. The matter will, however, be re-examined when the services in the Claremorris area are surveyed in connection with the general reorganisation of postal services now proceeding.
