Vol. 119 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of Irish in Galway.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that native Irish speakers from the Connemara Gaeltacht, who are anxious to transact official business in their own language, are hindered from doing so because some Government offices in Galway are not staffed with officials capable of dealing with official business in Irish, and whether he will ensure that this condition of affairs will be speedily ended.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. If the Deputy is aware of any Government office in Galway where a member of the public cannot transact official business in Irish I would suggest that he give particulars to the Minister in charge of the Department concerned to enable that Minister to investigate the matter.
