Vol. 119 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Irish Cement.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the price per ton for Irish cement in each of the years 1938, 1939, 1948 and 1949.

The average selling prices of Irish cement per ton, including in 1948 and 1949 surcharges to cover additional cost of imported cement, were 49/11 in 1938; 48/11 in 1939; 97/2 in 1948 and 95/7 in 1949. The surcharges are made to enable home-produced and imported cement to be sold at the same prices.

Is the Minister aware that in London Portland cement is selling at 62/- per ton, while the Cork Corporation are paying £5 5s. 9d. per ton?
