asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that Bord na Móna are moving their machinery and personnel from County Mayo and do not contemplate carrying out their programme there for 1950; and whether, in view of the fact that the stopping of the board's operations will cause widespread unemployment in the county, he will request them to carry out at least the same amount of production there this year as in 1949.

I am not aware that Bord na Móna are moving machinery and personnel from County Mayo. The programme of Bord na Móna for turf production under the special scheme for 1950 is at present under consideration and no decision has been taken as to the extent of the operations in County Mayo or elsewhere.
