Vol. 119 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification Scheme.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether, in connection with the rural electrification scheme for Ballyheigue and Causeway, Tralee, County Kerry, public lights will be erected in the streets of these villages in view of the fact that they are situated in a tourist centre.

I am informed that the provision of public lighting facilities in Ballyheigue and Causeway, Tralee, County Kerry, is a matter for the Kerry County Council. If the county council makes application to the board, and is prepared to enter into the necessary agreements, the board will be willing to provide the required facilities.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will indicate the reason why Ballyduff, Tralee, has been omitted from the rural electrification scheme and whether it is intended to have it included in the scheme in the near future.

I am informed that Ballyduff rural area has been selected by the Electricity Supply Board for inclusion in the rural electrification scheme and that the board hopes to commence work in the area in the summer of this year.
