Vol. 119 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of the estate of O'Shaughnessy, lands at Coldwood, Moyvilla, Derrydonnell, and Ballylennan, near Athenry, County Galway; and, if so, what stage the proceedings have now reached.

These lands have been inspected and the next step is to decide whether proceedings should be instituted for their acquisition. It is expected that a decision will be taken at an early date.

asked the Minister for Lands whether it is a fact that the Land Commission have decided not to acquire the Carter estate, Kilsallaghan, for division amongst deserving applicants; and, if not, whether he will indicate the reason for the delay in proceeding with its acquisition.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. There has not been any delay in this matter.

asked the Minister for Lands if and when it is proposed to acquire Roche's bog in the Julian estate, Rathea, Listowel, County Kerry, for division among the local tenants.

The Land Commission took possession of the bog last August.

Would the Minister say when it is proposed to divide the bog?

I am sorry I cannot.
