Vol. 119 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sand Boats.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is prepared to arrange to have sand boats placed at the disposal of farmers in the immediate Bantry area and at Ahakista.

The trade in sea-sand for agricultural purposes in County Cork is subsidised by the local committee of agriculture. I am not aware of any complaints that farmers who wish to avail of these facilities are unable to obtain their requirements.

I should like to bring to the Minister's notice that there are certain farmers in the Bantry area who have complaints to make and that people in the Ahakista area have to haul sand by lorry a distance of 30 miles.

I would be obliged if the Deputy would bring to my notice any such cases he knows.
