Vol. 119 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply Board Charges.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that residents in the Ballyfermot (Inchicore) area have been notified by the Electricity Supply Board that the electricity charges will, in the future, be at the rate of 13/- per two months instead of 6/6 per two months as at present, and whether, in view of the hardship which the increased charges will cause, he will make representations to the board in the matter.

I have no function in connection with the fixing of rates of charge by the Electricity Supply Board but I am informed by the board that the correct rate of fixed charge applicable to the houses in question is 13/-per two months, and that the rate of 6/6 was applied in error at the time the houses were built.

Is the Minister in a position to state whether or not the 13/- rate is applicable to areas outside the City of Dublin, and, if so, will he bring to the attention of the board that these houses in question are, in fact, in the Dublin Corporation housing area?
