Vol. 120 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Water and Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now in a position to state what villages and towns in South Kerry are to be provided with water and sewerage schemes during the course of the coming financial year.

The position with regard to sanitation schemes in South Kerry is as follows:—

The scheme of improvements to the water supply at Waterville is nearing completion; that at Killarney has progressed to the extent of about half the work. Tenders have been received for the carrying out of a water supply scheme at Cahirciveen and are being considered by the local authority. Preparation of a sewerage scheme for Waterville is in the hands of the consulting engineer.

The following further schemes are included in the county council's programme for South Kerry:—Rathmore sewerage; Milltown water supply and sewerage; Farranfore water supply; Dungeagan and Ballinskelligs water supply; and Sneem sewerage scheme.

I am not in a position to say definitely how much of the foregoing programme of works will be completed during the course of the coming financial year.
