Vol. 121 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supply Schemes.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will consider making the scheme for water supplies to farm dwellings available to tenants of agricultural labourers' cottages.

The installation of water supplies in tenanted cottages erected under the Labourers Acts, 1883 to 1941, and the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1948, is a matter for the local authorities in whom the cottages are vested.

A large number of these cottages are now vested in the tenants. In view of that, will the Minister consider that they are entitled to a water supply?

I understood the Deputy's question to refer to the tenants of local authority houses.

These are tenant purchasers.

If the Deputy wishes to inquire as to the status of individuals who have purchased their cottages under any purchase scheme, I shall have to ask him to put down a question to that effect. If he does, I shall certainly have the matter examined.
