Vol. 121 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Driving Licence.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that anyone over 15 years of age who pays 10/- is entitled to a motor vehicle driving licence and whether he will arrange for a qualifying driving test for every applicant for such licence.

I am not so aware. The minimum age for a driving licence is 16 years, but this only entitles the applicant to a driving licence for a motor cycle. The introduction of a driving test would require legislation.
