Vol. 123 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Advisers.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is the intention of the Government to proceed with the scheme for the provision of one agricultural adviser or parish agent for each group of three parishes as announced by him early in the year and for which provision is made in this year's Vote for his Department (sub-head H(2)) and if he will state whether the advisory agents appointed have taken up duty.

I would refer the Deputy to the statement issued to the Press on the 2nd June, 1950, which explained the circumstances in which the competition for appointment to these situations proved abortive. In case the explanation may have escaped the Deputy's notice, I am sending him a copy of the document I furnished to the newspapers.
