Vol. 123 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Review of Trade Agreement.

asked the Taoiseach whether any proposals have been made by him to the British Government for a review of the trade agreement of 1948; and, if so, if he will make a statement in the matter.

No such proposals have been made.

Arising out of the Taoiseach's reply, can he state if, in view of the operation of the trade agreement and its adverse effect on efforts to develop the dead meat export trade, the Government have examined the question of negotiating a revision of the agreement in view of the circumstances and with particular reference to that question?

That is a separate question, I think.

It is a matter for the Minister for Agriculture, but the Deputy may be quite sure that the problem he has in mind is kept under close examination.

And the trade is steadily expanding.
