Vol. 123 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposed Kerry Bridge.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will sanction a grant under the minor employment scheme to enable residents in the townland of Ballagh, Kilgalvin, County Kerry, to erect a car bridge in the vicinity of Shandrum school, as such a bridge is urgently required in the area.

An application for this work was received some time ago under the rural improvements scheme, and I am advised that, on inspection, it was found that the cost of a cart bridge, with the necessary approach roads, would be disproportionate to the benefits to be derived I shall, however, have the case re-examined to see whether there are any factors which have been overlooked.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that in this neighbourhood applications have been made for the erection of two bridges, one at Cumeen or Shandrum and another at Ballagh? Are these two applications still receiving consideration?

That is a fair division now.
