Vol. 123 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Establishment of Prices Tribunal.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the fact that many workers have to appear before the Labour Court in order to secure an increase in wages, the Government will consider the setting up of a prices tribunal before which manufacturers and traders would have to appear to justify any increase in the price of commodities manufactured or sold by them.

The principles and operation of the system of price control have been under consideration by the Government for some time.

Mr. C. Lehane rose.

I do not like interrupting the Deputy, but does he realise the time and the fact that there are 90 odd questions?

Is a revision at the moment under consideration?

I stated that in the reply.

You said that you would reduce the cost of living by 30 per cent.
