Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Geological Survey.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the date of the most recent geological survey carried out, with particular reference to the Counties of Donegal, Mayo, Galway, Clare, Kerry and Cork.

The most recent geological surveys in the counties mentioned were made as follows:—

Donegal—1950

Donegal/Pettigo district.

Mayo—1949

Clew Bay area.

Galway—1941/42

Murvey, Carrowroe and Oughterard districts.

Clare—1939/40

South Clare; and

—1941/45

Phosphate field in North Clare.

Kerry—1939

Revision surveys of portions of the county.

Cork—1934/35

Revision surveys of large areas of the county.

A general magnetic survey of the country in 1944-46 embraced large areas of these counties.
