Vol. 123 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dicksgrove Creameries (Kerry).

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that the majority of the suppliers disapprove of the taking over of the Dicksgrove group of creameries, and if he will state the present position in the matter.

As regards the first part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a similar question of his on 5th July last.

As to the second part of the question, the present position is that the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society, Limited, have been informed of the terms on which I am prepared to sell the group. It is now a matter for the local society to decide whether they are prepared to purchase on these terms.

Is the Minister aware that 85 per cent. of these suppliers are against the transfer? I challenge the Minister, or the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society, to put the matter to a plebiscite of these suppliers and test my statement in the matter. If this is the Minister's final word, all I can say is that he has betrayed these men to the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society, who are not competent to handle their business.
