Vol. 123 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Muckross (Kerry) Accommodation Road.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware of the urgent necessity for the reconstruction of the accommodation road leading from the county road through the townland of Gortagullane, Muckross, Killarney, which would facilitate a large number of smallholders; and whether he is prepared to allocate a grant for the carrying through of this scheme.

The unemployment position in the area would not warrant the allocation of a full cost grant for the work as an employment scheme. The proposal could, however, be considered under the rural improvements scheme, by the terms of which benefiting landholders are required to contribute to the cost. If an application under this scheme is made the matter will receive consideration.
