Vol. 123 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Agricultural Workers.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the average weekly wage paid to agricultural workers in each of the years 1914, 1920, 1930, 1940 and 1950.

The estimated average weekly rate of wages of adult male agricultural workers without free house or allowance of any kind in each of the years 1914, 1930, 1940 and 1950 was 12/-, 24/6, 30/3 and 61/3 respectively. The rate for 1920 is not available.

The average weekly rates of wages for the years 1940 and 1950 are minimum rates based on the relevant Agricultural Wages Board Orders. Those for the earlier years are based on special returns of actual weekly earnings.
