Vol. 123 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Manufacture of Cycles.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (1) the earliest date on which proposals relating to the manufacture of cycles and cycle-frames were submitted to the Industrial Development Authority; (2) the date on which the authority was first requested by him to report on such proposals, and (3) whether any report on this subject has been submitted to him by the authority; and, if so, when.

Proposals relating to the manufacture of cycle frames and forks first came before the Industrial Development Authority in June, 1949, when a pending application for protection was referred to them. Their examination involved protracted consultation with various other interests and, as a result, a number of cycle manufacturing proposals have been submitted to the authority. I have been kept advised by the authority of progress in regard to all of these related proposals.

Am I correct in assuming that no report has been received from the Industrial Development Authority on that subject?

I have stated I have been kept advised of the progress in relation to all these proposals.

Has any recommendation been made by the Industrial Development Authority on the subject?

One recommendation was made.

From recollection, about two months ago.
