Vol. 123 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conacre Lettings.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the area of land let by conacre in the Republic of Ireland.

The latest available figure for the area of land let in conacre in this country is that for the 1st June, 1949, given in the reply to a similar question asked by Deputy Davin on the 4th July, 1950.

In view of the very large amount of land under conacre would the Parliamentary Secretary undertake to have a statement made by the Minister for Agriculture that persons who conacred their land are not working the land in accordance with good husbandry and that some steps should be taken?

That is a separate question.
