Vol. 123 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Holdings in Congested Areas.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the number of applicants for an exchange of holdings in congested areas, and (b) the number of applicants for land who made application to the Land Commission since February, 1948.

Since February, 1948, approximately 1,325 farmers in the scheduled congested counties have applied for exchanges of holdings. It would involve considerable time and expense, which I feel would not be justified, to ascertain the information sought in part (b) of the question, but the Deputy may rest assured that the number is considerable.

Does the Minister propose to see that any action is taken to have an early decision reached in the case of the persons whose applications have been before the Land Commission for a number of years?

That is an entirely separate question.

It is not, with respect to your ruling. It is the same question.
