Vol. 123 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rathdowney Posting Hours.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state whether he has received representations dated 25th November last from the Rathdowney Development Association requesting an extension of hours for the posting of mails, viz., from 7.40 p.m. to 9.40 p.m., and if he will arrange for this request to be complied with.

The despatch of mails from Rathdowney at 7.40 p.m. gives a very satisfactory service and allows adequate time—over nine hours—for replying to correspondence on the day of receipt.

It is not practicable to defer the despatch of mails as requested by the Rathdowney Development Association without incurring staffing difficulties and expense which would not be warranted.
