Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flour Subsidies.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the total amount paid in flour subsidies in the year ending 31st March, 1949, and 31st March, 1950.

The total amounts paid in respect of flour and wheatenmeal subsidies for the two years ended 31st March, 1950, are as follows: year to 31st March, 1949, £9,946,658; year to 31st March, 1950, £7,765,704.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the estimated number of twenty-stone sacks of flour in respect of which flour subsidy was paid in the years ending 31st March, 1949, and 31st March, 1950.

The subsidy paid in the financial years 1948-49 and 1949-50 covered the following deliveries of flour and wheaten meal by licensed flour millers:—

1948-49: Approximately 2,557,824 sacks in respect of the period from 22nd February, 1948, to 1st January, 1949.

1949-50: Approximately 2,957,495 sacks in respect of the period from 2nd January, 1949, to 28th January, 1950.
